Berry Campbell: “Ann Purcell: Caravan Series”
January 4 through February 3, 2018
Opening Reception: Original Reception for January 4, 2018 has been rescheduled to Thursday, January 18, 2018 from 6 to 8 p.m.
Berry Campbell will present “Ann Purcell: Caravan Series,” a series of paintings from the 1980s.
Ann Purcell (b. 1941), an American-born artist who studied art in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, creates abstract paintings, collages and works on paper that play with paradox, ambiguity, duality and contradiction. Inspired by dance, music, Abstract Expressionism and the breadth of art history, Purcell sees process as a critical component of her work. Her “Caravan Series,” which draws on Matisse’s cutouts, evokes travel and the discovery of new places and ancient histories.
Berry Campbell is located at 530 West 24th St, New York, NY 10011. www.berrycampbell.com.
